iZoo, the hands-on animal center!
Japan’s largest center and refuge for reptiles and amphibians. There are endless ways to interact with the animals.
This zoo specializes in rare reptiles and amphibians you won’t find elsewhere in Japan. In addition the country’s largest reptile and amphibian habitat, there are over 300 species of snakes, lizards and turtles to see at this wildlife nursery and center. From the rarely ever seen in Japan Galapagos giant turtles to the only Lau Banded Iguanas found in Japan, there are plenty of chances to meet rare and endangered species like never before.
Across the grounds you’ll even find free-roaming animals and the chance to touch a few up close. For the especially curious, you’ll love searching the shady woods and tall grasses for critters hiding inside. There are also feeding sessions and photo spots for you to enjoy. In addition to the petting corner where you can meet real live snakes and crocodiles, you’ll find plenty of chances to meet new reptiles as these crawling friends are swapped out every day. For children who weigh under 30kg, you can even try a special chance to snap a photo as you ride a giant tortoise.
When you’re ready for a bite, the Oceans restaurant offers a full menu to try, including curry, karaage and skewers made with crocodile meat! Look over the giant tortoise enclosure while tasting a few dishes you never even imagined. There’s even original merchandise and loads of souvenirs to shop at the “Jungle Gift” shop.
This zoo is known for its every-changing line up of sights and activities, meaning there isn’t a standard map of the grounds. To see what’s going on, come on down to the ever-evolving zoo like none other before!
