Akita Dog Station
A place to be with cute Akita Dogs.
Area Nakaichi is a multi facility that includes Akita Prefectural Museum of Art. On the 1st floor, there is a place you can be with Akita dogs. Considering the stress on the dogs, touching them is not allowed but you can take photos or get original goods. It is run by ONE FOR AKITA, an Akita dogs’ protection organization.
Beloved by celebrities, Akita dogs are in the spotlight in recent years, but breeders are aging, some stray dogs are slaughtered, deteriorating pedigree, and other problems are driving the decrease of legitimate Akita dogs. This facility strives to expand awareness of Akita dogs as Japan’s treasure and to preserve them into the future. Part of the sales from the goods store is used to protect Akita dogs.
Look at adorable Akita dogs and ponder the challenges they face.
