When the mountain in the country is covered with pale pink gradation, Hanamiyama Park truly looks like a fairyland. Surrounded by the flowery patchwork, soak yourself in a happy dream there.
Everyone around Fukushima knows this cherry blossom spot, which began with a farmer's wish. At the beginning of Showa Period, one of the farmers, Isejiro Abe, was transitioning from silkworm farming to flower cultivation, who tried to make a living by clearing a mountain and planting flowering trees for sales to flower shops. In time, many started requesting a tour on the mountain full of lovely booms. To share the delight with more people, Hanamiyama Park was opened in 1959.
In spring, a variety of cherries, plums, flowering peach and yulan magnolia - nearly 70 species of flowers - bloom in staggering seasons. The Park has walking courses of 30, 45 and 60 minutes. Choose the one that suits your strength and travel plans.
