Blessed with Kamo, Katsura and Uji Rivers, there has always been plenty of underflow water in Fushimi. With good crops of rice suited for brewing, this area has been known for top-quality sake in Japan. You see national brand makers such as Kizakura, Gekkeikan and Takara as well as many small breweries in this town.
Fushimi Sakagura Koji has 18 outstanding breweries with 120 sake brands, offering cuisines to go with the drinks. “Sakagura” that serves rice wines from 18 breweries has 23m-long bar counter. The popular menu “Kikisake Set” lets you taste 18 kinds selected from 120 brands.
Besides breweries, there are gourmet specialties “Umaimon specialty Restaurants” where you can take a seat in any restaurant and have “Sakagura” Japanese wine or food delivered from other restaurants to your seat. There are some dishes non-deliverable and can be tasted only at Umaimon specialty restaurants. It may be fun to go bar-hopping and taste specialties.
