Shogawa Gorge
You can enjoy the spectacular scenery of nature from the boat.
There is a gorge that stretches from Gokayama to the southern part of Tonami City. Visitors can fully enjoy the natural beauty of the Shogawa River as it weaves its way through the mountains, changing its expression from season to season.
The Shogawa River is a first-class river that originates in the mountains of Gifu Prefecture and flows into Toyama Prefecture. It flows through the Gokayama, Ainokura, and Suganuma Gassho-Zukuri villages, registered as a World Heritage site and known as a place where the original Japanese landscape remains, and flows out into Toyama Bay.
In particular, Shogawa Gorge, where the river meanders deep into the mountains, is a scenic spot, offering cherry blossoms in spring, fresh greenery in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and snowy landscapes in winter.Shogawa Water Memorial Park, the sightseeing base of Shogawa Gorge, has a footbath, an observatory, a museum, and restaurants and specialty stores. There is also a promenade along the river, where visitors can take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the beauty of the natural scenery.
One of the most popular is the Shogawa River sightseeing boat, which allows visitors to enjoy the spectacular view of the gorge from the water. There is a 1-hour course that goes from the pier near Komaki Dam to Omaki Onsen and back. A 25-minute course that turns back at Nagasaki Bridge on the way to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
