Along the west coast of Oga Peninsula, there is an aquarium where you can meet fish in the sea of Oga and other popular ocean creatures.
Upon entering, the first thing you see is the Giant Sea of Oga Aquarium, which depicts the sea of Oga with 2000 individuals of fish in 40 species. The aquarium is in a tunnel shape and you will feel as if you are walking at the bottom of the ocean as you look up at the fish. The most popular are lively and cute polar bears, Gota and his daughter, Yuki. You can watch adorable seals and sea lions at Hireashi’s Kan and move over to the penguin section. Akita’s prefecture fish, Hatahata, is the theme at Hatahata Museum. Learn about their habitat and food culture.
After a visit to the aquarium, take a break at the restaurant Furutto with the view of the Japan Sea and relish your experience with the creatures.
