Takashima Blueberry Farm
Enjoy all-you-can-eat fully ripe blueberries without any time limit!
This blueberry picking experience farm is located amidst the rich nature of the northern part of Lake Biwa, on the border of Makino Town and Imazu Town in Takashima City. At the foot of Mt. Hakodate and nourished by abundant natural water, you can fully enjoy delicious blueberries. Blueberries are rich in antioxidants believed to have anti-aging effects, and they have been referred to as the king of superfruits in recent studies. The farm is open for about two months from late June to the end of August. Across the extensive farm, there are about 660 bushes and over 20 varieties of blueberries, allowing visitors to taste and compare the subtle differences in sweetness, sourness, and texture of each variety.
The blueberries here are cultivated in pots rather than planted in the ground, and the ground is covered with weed-proof sheets, making the farm accessible for strollers and wheelchairs. Additionally, the ground does not get muddy even in rainy weather, which is a great plus. Since the blueberry season is during the hot months, there are several rest areas including log houses and tents.
In the cafe corner, fresh blueberry yogurt smoothies and freshly baked blueberry cream cheese scones made with fully ripe blueberries harvested from the farm are available.
