Jiyu Gakuen Myonichikan
A national important Cultural Property, Frank Lloyd Wright’s magnum opus architecture.

Built in 1921 and used as a campus for Jiyu Gakuen, until moving in 1934. It was designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright, who also designed the Imperial Hotel. This building is known as a fine example of modern architecture, and is a designated national important Cultural Property.
When designated a cultural asset, the building was renovated to preserve it. The renovation strengthened the base, added some water-prevention fixtures, and repainted various parts of the building according to resources from old times. Among the features restored were the center pavilion designed by Wright, the meeting hall designed by Arata Endo, a pupil of Wright, and the mural commemorating the 10th anniversary of the school, which was tucked below the walls.
Nowadays, the building is open during the weekdays, to the public. Night time openings held every 3rd Friday of the month is recommended, making it a different experience compared to the day. It is also used for events such as concerts, or wedding ceremonies, using the meeting hall. It is popular as a wedding party venue, where the cafeteria is used.
