Masuichi Ichimura Sake Brewery – Teppa

Founded in 1755 in Obuse, Nagano, Masuichi Ichimura Sake Brewery is a long-established brewery founded by the Ichimura family, who also run the famous chestnut confectionery shop Obusedo. In 2000, the brewery revived the traditional wooden vat brewing method to produce junmai and junmai daiginjo sake. Their original sake, sold exclusively at the shop and through their own online store, has become highly popular.

Inside the store, you’ll find a full lineup of their own labels, with Square One standing out as a signature sake. A special counter called the “Teppa-dai” is also set up in the shop.

“Teppa” is a local dialect term referring to drinking directly from sake sold by measure. Here, you can sample all their sake brands starting from just 180 yen per ochoko (60ml). Simple snacks like hitashi-mame (marinated beans) and matsumae-zuke (pickled seafood with kelp) are also available, and the staff are happy to recommend the best pairings.
