Located at an elevation of 1,661 meters, about 17 minutes by two ropeways from Zao Ropeway Station and close to the summit of Mt. Jizo, the restaurant "Sancho" is open year-round in Jizo Sancho Station. With large windows on the wall side, the restaurant offers a spectacular view of the Sancho Station area that changes from season to season: fresh greenery in spring and summer, autumn leaves in fall, and tree ice in winter. For those who wish to enjoy the view closer to the restaurant, counter seats by the window are recommended.
The menu offers a varied lineup of dishes ranging from rice dishes to noodles. Among the most popular dishes are udon and soba noodles with Yamagata's famous "imoni" (stewed potato stew) and grilled meat bowls made with Yamagata sangenton pork, all of which are full of local flavor. There is also a full lineup of easy-to-eat one-hand gourmet dishes such as tama-konnyaku and Yonezawa beef croquettes. It is also liberating to take out "juhyo coffee" and soft-serve ice cream brewed with Zao's natural water and enjoy them on the summit terrace on the rooftop observation deck of the Sancho Station while admiring the scenery.
