Daisen Park

Sakai City's urban park is adjacent to the Nintoku-tennō-ryō tumulus (Daisen tumulus), which has been designated a World Heritage Site. The vast park of 380,000 m2 is filled with greenery and seasonal flowers and is dotted with large and small tumulus, including the Osamezuka tumulus and the Magodayuyama tumulus.

The vast park has many spaces where visitors can experience nature, including the "Heiwa Pagoda" located in front of the ginkgo-lined avenue of trees at the north entrance and the "Dora Pond," a renovated reservoir from the Edo period, as well as a spacious large lawn area and the "Children's Forest" crowded with many children.
It also has cultural facilities such as the Sakai City Museum, which introduces the history and culture of Sakai in an easy-to-understand manner, a “Japanese garden “consisting of three landscapes (the Togen-dai Plateau on the southern plateau, the Ishizu Valley flowing from south to north, and the lowlands on the northern side), the “Central Library”, and the “Mozuーfuruichi kofun Group Visitors Center”.

It is also famous for its cherry blossoms, and from March to April, approximately 1,000 cherry trees compete to bloom, creating a fantastic view. It has been selected as one of the "100 Best Historical Parks in Japan" for its excellent historical and cultural features and for its wonderful scenery that makes the most of its resources.
