Korankei is a valley on the Tomoe River, known as one of the premier spots for autumn foliage in Japan. It is said to have originated when the chief priest of Kojakuji Temple planted trees in 1634. Currently, about 4,000 trees turn red and yellow in the fall, presenting a breathtaking view.

Every year, the "Korankei Maple Festival" is held for a month from November 1st to 30th. The festival delights visitors with events according to the annual theme. Especially noteworthy is the light-up from sunset to 21:00. The fantastical scene of autumn leaves illuminated by lights is sure to leave an impression on your heart.

In addition to the autumn leaves in fall, there is an abundance of charm that changes with each season, including wild mountain flowers in spring, fresh greenery in early summer, and snowy landscapes in winter. Particularly famous are the dogtooth violet flowers that bloom from mid-March to late March. The carpet of flowers created by these delicate purple flowers is also a must-see.
