The bath doors are open for overnight and day-only guests alike. The spring sits hugged by beech forests at its perch along the upper reaches of the Sendatsu River, kissed with the serene air and mountain tranquility expected of a natural hot spring.
Kuroyu Onsen is long-known for its tradition as a therapeutic hot spring (toji) site for centuries. The thatched-roof buildings preserve the traditional atmosphere of a therapeutic retreat, offering the same experience to visitors today.
At the spring you’ll find waters sourced by two abundant hot springs, making it the most water-rich onsen in Nyuto Onsen Village. Guests can enjoy both outdoor and indoor baths, including the famous "utaseyu" (waterfall bath), which is a historical feature of the onsen. Due to heavy snowfall, the onsen is closed during the winter. However, bathing in the fresh green surroundings of spring and summer or enjoying the autumn foliage offers a revitalizing experience.
