Kamabuchi Falls
A one-of-a-kind view! Refresh body and mind at this mysterious, scenic waterfall.
This waterfall spills over massive rocks that stand 8.5 m tall and 30 m wide, and it’s also selected as part of the nationally designated scenic spot “Ihatov Landscape,” which captures the character of the Iwate region. The clear stream from the Daikawa River, running through western Hanamaki City, flows gently despite its abundant volume, splitting into multiple streams as it heads into the basin—an elegant, timeless scene.
Tucked deep in one of Tohoku’s leading hot spring areas, Hanamaki Onsen, it’s within walking distance from the heart of the resort, and the route to the falls is set up as an easy strolling course. Lined with poem monuments by celebrated Japanese poets such as Akiko Yosano and Kenji Miyazawa, the loop takes Approx. 20 minutes—perfect for a light walk and a reset, with the sound of the river in the background.
Pair it with nearby relaxation spots like Ogase Falls and Ichi-no-Taki, or make it a must-stop when you stay at Hanamaki Onsen.
