Hachinohe Art Museum

An art museum that creates new culture and connections through art.

Last update :
Supervised by :  Hachinohe Art Museum

A municipal art museum that reopened after renovations in November 2021 as a core facility in Hachinohe City’s vision of becoming an “art city.”

The museum’s biggest feature after the renovation is the “Giant Room” that opens up from the entrance. This huge space, with a ceiling height of Approx. 18 m, can be freely arranged with movable shelves and partitions. In addition to special exhibitions, its flexibility also makes it possible to host unique events like “Horoyoi Kansho,” where you enjoy viewing artworks after tasting Hachinohe’s local sake and wine, as well as performance projects and workshops. Surrounding the “Giant Room” are “private room” areas, including highly specialized galleries and spaces you can use for creating work, making the museum not only a place to exhibit art but also a hub for “cultural creation,” unlike traditional art museums.

The facility includes spaces such as a terrace and counters that you can use freely for eating, chatting, and more. In the plaza in front of the museum, food trucks also set up shop, mainly on weekends.
