Michinoku Hydrangea Garden

Experience the enchanting world created by 40,000 hydrangea plants in one of Japan's largest hydrangea gardens.

Last update :

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of hydrangeas with 40,000 plants covering approximately 150,000 square meters. The garden features around 400 varieties, including mountain hydrangeas, Hokkaido hydrangeas, and Western hydrangeas, making it one of the largest hydrangea gardens in Japan. The garden is open for just one month each year, from late June to late July, attracting numerous visitors from across the country.

A well-maintained 2 km walking path winds through the garden, taking about an hour to complete. As you stroll through the lush cedar forest, you can enjoy the serene beauty of the hydrangeas. The garden also features rest areas and eateries, allowing you to take breaks and explore at your own pace. Since the path is unpaved, it's recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes.

In early July, as the closing period approaches, the garden hosts a special event called "Hydrangea Pond," where pruned hydrangea flowers are floated on the pond. This event creates a mesmerizing scene reminiscent of Claude Monet's masterpieces, offering a must-see experience.
