Geto Kogen Ski Resort
Experience the joy of winter amid magnificent natural scenery. With 14 courses and a variety of tree-run areas, it’s a paradise for enjoying powder snow.
Renowned for its high-quality powder snow and boasting some of the heaviest snowfall in Japan, this snow resort has been gaining international recognition in recent years. Skiing is typically possible from late November through spring, and in heavy snow seasons, the slopes can remain open until around Japan’s Golden Week in early May.
The ski area offers a total course length of approximately 14,110 meters across about 90 hectares, with 14 courses in all. Options range from gentle slopes ideal for beginners to ungroomed runs for advanced skiers, as well as the tree-run areas that have become synonymous with Geto Kogen. From the slopes, panoramic views of surrounding peaks such as Mt. Chokai and Mt. Iwate add to the appeal, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the grandeur of nature.
The resort is also well equipped in terms of lift capacity, with two gondolas, one high-speed quad lift, and two additional lifts. This impressive setup helps keep wait times relatively short, making for a smooth and stress-free mountain experience.
