Togatta Onsen

With over 400 years of history, Togatta Onsen is a highland hot spring resort located at an elevation of approximately 330 meters. Renowned as a therapeutic retreat since ancient times, it is believed to be particularly effective for ailments affecting the legs and back, as suggested by local legends passed down through generations.

The townscape, featuring 14 hot spring inns, souvenir shops, and restaurants, exudes a nostalgic and retro charm, making it perfect for a leisurely stroll. Visitors can also enjoy the public baths, "Kami-no-Yu" and "Kotobuki-no-Yu," ideal for a relaxing day trip.

Local treats such as onsen-boiled eggs, soft serve ice cream flavored with buckwheat, soy milk, or sake, are sold at various shops, offering a delightful culinary experience during your exploration. For a unique souvenir, head to the "Miyagi Zao Kokeshi Doll Hall," located just across the "Kokeshi Bridge." Here, you can create your own original kokeshi doll through a painting experience (advance reservation required).
