Traditional Japanese Inn Koyo

Refresh your body and mind in the scenic large public bath with stunning views.

Last update :

A ryokan on a hilltop with sweeping views of the Zao mountain range. It was named “Koyo” after kiln ruins from the Nara period were excavated on the property, and inside the inn you can enjoy raku pottery painting on unglazed plates, while the Raku-yaki Corridor lets you view works by notable figures.

The hot springs are a sodium-calcium chloride sulfate type, also known as one of Japan’s three renowned “beauty spring” types, and are rich in metasilicic acid, which helps keep the skin’s moisture and oils in balance. From the scenic large public bath on the 8th floor, you can take in panoramic views of the majestic Zao mountain range and the nighttime cityscape of Kaminoyama, and there is also an open-air bath for an extra sense of freedom. Enjoy a relaxing soak in a spectacular setting.

There are 18 different room types with distinct styles, including Western-style rooms with comfortable beds, Japanese-modern rooms, and rooms with a private open-air bath where you can enjoy 100% natural hot spring water straight from the source. Dining features top-quality ingredients such as premium, all-Japan brand beef like Yonezawa beef and Yamagata beef, plus Yamagata’s signature rice “Tsuyahime,” and fresh seasonal vegetables delivered directly from partner farms. Experience an elevated stay in every detail.
