Ninja Weapon Museum
Unlock the full mystique of ninjas in this century-old authentic townhouse.
You’ll find this intriguing destination tucked away in the Nishi Chaya District, an area known for its beautiful latticework teahouse architecture and the elegant geisha who frequent it. This is the only privately-run museum in Ishikawa Prefecture dedicated to ninjas, set in a renovated townhouse over 100 years old.
Inside the museum waits an enthralling showcase of some 160 different pieces representing about 50 different types of medieval weapons once used by ninjas. Among the exhibits are familiar items from ninja-themed movies, such as shuriken (throwing stars), chain weapons, and impressive suits of armor. The display includes a large collection of Japanese-origin weapons, offering a rare chance to examine these artifacts up close and reimagine their tumultuous history.
An extra perk for anyone traveling with kids, there’s even a shuriken-throwing corner for kids that’s always a hit. Try throwing "kuruma-shuriken," a windmill-shaped weapon with multiple blades, and "bo-shuriken," a short iron rod with sharp tips.
Talk a quick walk away from the museum to find Myoryuji Temple, also known as the Ninja Temple. Visiting both spots offers a deep dive into the mysterious world of ninjas.
