Kawasaki Yumemigasaki Zoo

Come one, come all to meet the 50 specieies of mammals, birds and repites that await at Kawasaki Yumemigasaki Zoo, the free to enter destination open every day, all year in Kawasaki (Kanagawa Prefecture). This compact little animal collective sits perched on a small hill that you can explore in about one hour, making for an easy add-on and short-style outing.

Make your way over to meet the cutest of furry friends like the Sichuan red panda and ring-tailed lemur. The zoo also features fascinating species such as the endangered Hartmann's mountain zebra and the impressive markhor with its large horns. Aquatic animals like Humboldt penguins and Chilean flamingos are also a popular stop to note.

Littles love the children’s playground set inside, giving you all the more reasons to love this spot if you’re traveling with younger kids. Step up to the Fujimi Deck to find panoramic views of Kawasaki City, and on clear days, a view as far out as Mt. Fuji, Mt. Oyama, and Mount Sanpo in Chichibu. There are benches nearby, perfect for bringing a packed lunch and taking a break.
