Yohashira Shrine

Awaiting you in Ote, Matsumoto City, is Yohashira Shrine, the site dedicated to the four deities from Japanese mythology: Ame-no-Minakanushi-no-Kami, Takamimusubi-no-Kami, Kamimusubi-no-Kami, and Amaterasu-Omikami. Each deity possesses significant divine virtues, making the shrine renowned as the "Wish-Granting Shrine”, believed to fulfill all kinds of wishes. From far and wide, this shrine remains in regard as one of the leading power spots in the prefecture, drawing numerous visitors who seek its blessings.

For an extra special Matsumoto autumn tradition, swing by for the annual “Shinto-sai” festival that’s held from October 1st to 3rd each year. This unmissable event has something for everyone, including a showcase of the acclaimed stage float that’s designated as an Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property of the city, as well as dedicatory fireworks. The air comes alive with the buzz of festive atmosphere thanks to the many stalls that line the shrine grounds, Nawate Street, and the area across the Chitose Bridge.

While set in the heart of the city, the shrine is often noted for its rich natural surroundings, with particularly stunning autumn foliage. Its proximity to JR Matsumoto Station and Matsumoto Castle makes it an easy add-on to any trip.
