With a strong belief in “making good sake,” Kokuryu Sake Brewery has produced high-quality Japanese sake since it was founded in 1804. Nearby flows the Kuzuryu River, the largest river in Fukui Prefecture, and the brewery creates many masterpieces using its clear underground spring water.
While using traditional methods, Kokuryu Sake Brewery continues to pursue great taste by embracing new ideas. The 7th-generation brewery owner repeatedly experimented with the question, “Could wine aging methods be applied to sake too?” and in 1975, ahead of the rest of Japan, launched “Kokuryu Daiginjo Ryu.” It challenged long-held industry norms with a sake that couldn’t be a mass-market product.
One of its signature bottles is “Kokuryu Daiginjo.” From the moment it’s poured, a fruity, full-bodied aroma rises, and on the palate it goes down smoothly with a crisp, refreshing finish. It’s not overly dry, making it easy to enjoy even for those new to sake. It should pair well with just about any dish, making it a versatile choice.
