Established in 1894 within Odawara Castle Park, this shrine honors Ninomiya Sontoku, a notable figure born in Odawara. Known as Kinjiro in his youth, the grounds keep a bronze statue of Sontoku carrying firewood on his back while reading a book. This statue can be seen along the approach to the shrine.
Sontoku was held in high esteem through his adulthood for his contributions to financial reform, rural revitalization, and civil engineering projects, helping countless people escape poverty.

The shrine is steeped in history and revered as a hot spot for a little extra luck in academics, success, business, and prosperity. Take the tree-flanked main walk up to find a stately main hall. There’s a spot to cleanse your hands at the Chozuya, climb the stone steps and pass through the torii gate. To the right is a pond where koi swim gracefully, and to the left, rows of ema (wooden prayer plaques) hang, carrying visitors’ wishes. The shrine also hosts traditional Japanese weddings, offering a glimpse of brides in stunning traditional attire.

For a relaxing break, visit the Kinjiro Café on the premises. Surrounded by greenery, this stylish open café serves coffee and locally sourced citrus juices, perfect for unwinding after your visit.
