A gourmet spot in Jozankei Onsen, Approx. 40 minutes by car from downtown Sapporo. A variety of unique eateries gather on the west side of the hot spring town, surrounded by untouched old-growth forest.

Opened in 2022, “Kaze Machi Building” is home to three shops. At “Shokudo Ichi,” you can enjoy charcoal-grilled fresh salmon and Hokkaido chicken in a set-meal style. “Hare to Ke Patisserie,” which also has a cafe space, offers cakes made with seasonal Hokkaido ingredients, plus gift-friendly baked sweets like sable cookies inspired by Jozankei’s symbol, Mt. Asahidake. Also worth checking out is “Himitsu no Curry Room,” a curry specialty spot that’s reservation-only, with the address shared only with diners.

There are also various other kinds of shops scattered throughout the area, including a cafe where you can enjoy freshly baked pizza and a wide variety of gelato, a bakery cafe with a foot bath, and a shop selling a new style of monaka that incorporates patisserie flavors. A shaved ice shop that’s only open for 100 days from summer to fall also becomes a hot topic every year. Since Hours and Closed on vary by shop, it’s recommended to check the website before visiting. There are also accommodations such as inns and log houses, all with 100% natural hot spring water indoor baths.
