Katsurahama Aquarium

Located on the shores of the iconic Katsurahama Beach in Kochi Prefecture, this aquarium offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Popular among all age groups, it provides numerous interactive feeding experiences, allowing visitors to observe and learn about marine life up close, engaging all the senses.

One unique feature is the fish identification panels, which include delicious cooking suggestions for the displayed species. Despite its small size, the aquarium houses around 220 species and 4,000 animals, including fish from Tosa Bay, sea turtles, penguins, sea lions, and Steller sea lions. Don’t miss the impressive Akame (red-eye sea bass) exhibit—a massive fish that grows over a meter long, whose eyes glow red under the provided light.

On the second floor of the main building, the specimen room allows visitors to touch whale and dolphin skeletons, offering a tactile learning experience. The quirky and unforgettable mascot Otodo-chan adds a playful charm to the aquarium, having gained fame on social media by sharing daily aquarium life and spotlighting the caretakers.
