A uniquely shaped rock formation located on the rocky shore known as Shiosezaki on the Oga Peninsula in Akita Prefecture. It got its name because its natural shape, carved by the waves, looks just like the side profile of the monster "Godzilla." Especially when viewed from the side, it is said to resemble Godzilla roaring with its mouth open, making it a popular photo spot.

Located along a coastline dotted with rocky areas, its dramatic silhouette stands out against Oga’s blue sea and sky on clear days. It is especially striking at sunset, when the backlighting makes the silhouette more pronounced and the outline of Godzilla Rock appear even more lifelike, which is why it is also known as a famous sunset spot.

This area is made up of rocky terrain formed from volcanic lapilli tuff, volcanic ejecta from Approx. 30 million years ago, and is lined with unusual rocks shaped by weathering. There is also a rock called "Godzilla’s Tail Rock" that looks like Godzilla’s tail, so see if you can find it. Some parts of the coast can be slippery underfoot, so it is best to wear comfortable walking shoes.
