Shizukuishi Ski Resort
Home to world championship runs, rich in history.
Shizukuishi Ski Resort is located in Shizukuishi Town, Iwate Prefecture. In 1993, it served as the venue for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, establishing its reputation as a world-class ski resort. Its signature attraction is the downhill course, with a maximum length of 2,648 meters and varied terrain.
A total of 16 courses are available, ensuring fun for beginners, advanced skiers, and families alike.
Thrilling courses include the speedy “Downhill Trail” and the “Panorama Trail” with spectacular views. There is also a dedicated CAT-access course, reached by snowcat, offering a private skiing experience for one group at a time. For children, a dedicated area allows them to enjoy snow strider bikes on the snow. From the slopes, visitors can also enjoy sweeping views of Mt. Iwate, often called “Nanbu Katafuji” because of its resemblance to Mt. Fuji.
Next to the resort is the Shizukuishi Prince Hotel, which features Shizukuishi Takakura Onsen. Guests can soak in natural hot springs while admiring the seasonal scenery. During the ropeway’s operating season, you can also enjoy the unforgettable sight of a star-filled night sky.
