One of Okinawa’s largest roadside stations sits along National Route 331, about a 20-minute drive from Naha Airport. The entire property sings with the fishing town character of Itoman, complete with a jaw-dropping variety of succulently fresh seafood, local fruits and vegetables, and regional specialties.
Swing by “Osakana Center” fish market to find a heaping line-up of the local catch from the nearby seas. This is a great stop for sashimi, sushi, tempura, and even a chance to pick-and-choose your own seafood bowl topped with all your favorite sashimi. A wide selection of processed seafood products and seaweed-based items are also available.
The Umanchu Ichiba farmers’ market, one of the largest in the prefecture, sells vegetables and fruits delivered directly from local farms.
