Yanagihara Chigusa Garden

This ward-run park sits between the Sumida River and the Arakawa River in Tokyo’s Adachi Ward. The grounds are divided into three themed areas-“Spring Plaza,” “Summer Garden,” and “Autumn/Winter Hill”-each designed so visitors can fully enjoy the seasonal blooms.

In Spring Plaza, cherry blossoms and other flowers reach their peak around March. Summer Garden features rhododendrons, hydrangeas, and other plants that bloom from the rainy season into summer. Autumn/Winter Hill is planted with many trees and shrubs that change color or bear fruit, such as the ita-ya maple, offering beautiful scenery throughout the year.

At the center of the park is a pond where colorful koi swim, complemented by the soothing sound of a small stream that flows through the grounds. A walking path circles the pond, making it an ideal route for your first stroll. There’s also an adjoining playground with a slide, sandbox, and swings-perfect for outings with children.
