Original melt-in-your-mouth pancakes at Bean’s Cafe, Fukuoka City
Pancakes are abundant in Japan, however, gone are the days when pancakes were merely a simple home breakfast meal. These days, people flock to high-end eateries to eat elaborately plated pancakes and post the photos on their SNS. Today we'd like to introduce you to Bean's Cafe, a waffle & pancake house located in Fukuoka's popular Nishijin area. They are known not only for their presentation, but for their original take on the classic breakfast foods.
While the interior isn’t particularly spacious, its quaint, stylish atmosphere will have you reaching for your camera. Pepe Shimada's cat artwork is a wonderful addition to the space that will leave you feeling relaxed and comforted.
The menu focuses mainly on waffles and pancakes. They take a bit of time to make, I was told.
Ice Café Latte 520 yen, Enjoy a discount of 150 yen if you order any food or dessert with it.
Banana & Chocolate Ice Cream Waffle 1,000 yen.
A well-balanced collaboration of lightly sweetened waffles, banana, whipped cream, chocolate ice cream, and a variety of nuts. The waffles were crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. I was happy to find that the whipped cream was on the mild side as well.
The best selling item on the menu: Pancake Meal Plate 1,250 yen
This unique plate comes with pancakes, salad, sliced orange, scrambled eggs, fried tomato, and your choice of smoked salmon or bacon.
Bean’s Café makes all their pancakes, not only the ones for the Pancake Meal Plate, salt based as opposed to sugar based. Pour some maple syrup over top and dig in!
The texture is soft, fluffy, and reminiscent of soufflé! And since they aren’t overwhelmingly sweet, it’s nearly impossible to stop eating! Trust me, these melt-in-your-mouth pancakes are worth experiencing!
I urge you to check out the bustling Nishijin shopping district while you’re in the area as well! Enjoy!
