Fukuoka is a battlefield for chicken specialty restaurants, which seem to be at every turn. Momoya Seinikudo Kego is one of such restaurants that appears to be at the top of the totem pole. You’ve never seen a place so packed on a weekday night! This chicken creative cuisine specialty restaurant boasts a menu of unique dishes you’d be hard pressed to find elsewhere.

The staff were lively, and the atmosphere was cheerful.
Momoya精肉堂 (ももや精肉堂)的菜單
The secret to their popularity is surely their sold-by-weight momo yaki (grilled chicken thigh). With three flavours and three amounts to choose from, it’s no surprise they’ve got so many people hooked!
400 g 1,296 yen, 300 g 972 yen, 200 g 648 yen
- Momo Kuro – The standard. Rich and spicy char-grilled chicken thigh.
- Momo Shiro – Popular among female patrons. Refreshing herb-salted seared raw chicken thigh.
- Momo Aka – Spicy chicken thigh with tingle-inducing rice.
Both Momo Shiro and Momo Aka are exclusive to the Kego location.
Momo Kuro 200 g 648 yen
This shop is famous for its Momo Kuro. They only use fresh, free-range jidori chicken directly delivered from Miyazaki Prefecture. The combination of the charcoal's aroma, the spices, and the umami-filled juices make this dish heavenly.
At a glance, this dish appears to be severely over-grilled, but this is actually the secret to its popularity: The bitter charcoal accent is exquisite, and makes it the perfect pairing for an ice cold beer. People flock to Momoya Seinikudo just to try this dish, so you know it must be good!
Momo Shiro 200 g 648 yen
Seasoned with herb salt and seared raw, this is an enjoyably refreshing dish.
Tomato and Chicken Ham Cheese Dip Salad 540 yen
Dip the fresh veggies in the white cheese in the center—your taste buds will thank you!
Dashimaki Rolled Omelet 490 yen
Mild and agreeable in taste. Made with fresh eggs.
Flame Seared Chicken Sushi (Current market value)
Fresh. Delicious. Fun to eat. Each piece has its own carefully selected topping to go with it!
Secret Sauce Fried Rice Ball 180 yen
Rice balls soaked in sesame oil and secret sauce then grilled to produce a crunchy exterior. This is one item on the menu you can't leave without trying! As they slowly grill each rice ball to perfection, be sure to order it right away.
Charcoal Jidori Chicken Thigh Tataki 600 yen
Fresh and addicting!
Seared Raw Liver in a Negi-shio Marinade 600 yen
With no unappealing odor or after taste, this dish is simply irresistible—even to those not generally partial to liver!
Only the most suitable chicken is chosen for each dish to maximize flavour. This means that the chickens are carefully selected by production region and part.
Japanese-style Meat Sauce Pasta with Jidori Chicken and Three Kinds of Cheese 690 yen
After plate upon plate of meat, this dish was particularly refreshing.
Reasonably priced with a menu filled with delectable culinary creations! This time I visited the Kego location, but the Watanabe-dori Honten location is also wonderful, and it’s only a 2-min walk from Yakuin-odori Subway Station.
