Shiroi Koibito ("White Lover" in English) is a type of langue de chat cookie with an established name as a souvenir of Hokkaido. ISHIYA Seika, the company that manufactures it, also operates a theme park dedicated to sweets.
Along with delicious sweets, visitors can enjoy the rose garden where its namesake flowers proudly bloom.

*NOTE: Due to construction, the production line cannot be observed. It is scheduled to reopen in June of 2019. However, the shops and rose garden in the courtyard will remain open during the construction period.

*These photos were taken on June 12, 2016.

To get there, walk 7 minutes on foot from Miyanosawa Station on the Tozai Subway Line. Shiroi Koibito Park is located along Kita 5-Jo Teina Dori, one of the leading main streets in Sapporo. With its prominent European-style stone buildings, it's easy to find the park, even from far away.

Inside the park, there is a European garden, full of beautiful buildings and plants. Fountains and cute houses lined up side by side lend it a fairy-tale atmosphere.

Stroll Through the Rose Garden

From spring through summer, more than 120 varieties of roses proudly bloom in the beautiful rose garden. As some varieties are late bloomers, this garden can be enjoyed until the end of October.

Tour the Park on a Mini-Railroad!

These adorable train cars, designed in the motif of Hokkaido's once-active Benkeigo train, pass through structures such as "sweets" houses and a tunnel made to look like a giant cream puff.

Savor the Flavor of Shiroi Koibito Soft-Serve!

Enhance your enjoyment with some Shiroi Koibito soft-serve ice cream, made with the same white chocolate that goes in the Shiroi Koibito cookies! When the weather is good, be sure and eat it outside.

The Tudor House

In this building, there's also a full lineup of entertainment facilities. Free admission is offered to the Tudor House, where the "Candy Lab" is popular. Watch colorful candy being made here. Some candy is available to purchase as souvenirs.

What's more, with attractions like the "Toy Box from Times Past" a space displaying nostalgic toys from the Meiji to Showa Periods (1868-1988), you'll never be bored, no matter how much time you spend looking at the full selection of exhibits here.

In addition to what has been introduced in this article, this park is full of many fun attractions, such as having the experience of making your own original treats!
