Yabaton is famous for tonkatsu served with its secret miso sauce, including dishes such as teppan tonkatsu and waraji tonkatsu.
Opened in 2020 right next to Osu Kannon (Shinpukuji Hoshoin) near the entrance to the Osu Kannon Dori shopping street, Mukashi no Yabaton is, as its name suggests, based on the concept of recreating Yabaton as it was when it first opened in 1947.
The building’s Showa-era atmosphere and the large sign featuring the shop’s mascot character “Boo-chan” make it easy to spot.

A special head temple of the Chizan school of Shingon Buddhism, its formal name is Kitano-san Shinpukuji Hoshoin.
It originated in Hashima City, Gifu Prefecture, and was moved to its current location by order of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Together with Asakusa Kannon in Tokyo and Tsu Kannon in Mie, it is counted as one of Japan’s three great Kannon temples.
It enshrines a statue of Hotei, one of the Nagoya Seven Lucky Gods. The Osu Library houses 15,000 volumes, including a National Treasure manuscript copy of the Kojiki.
To the east of Osu Kannon spreads the temple town of Osu Shopping District, lined with a wide variety of stores including restaurants, vintage clothing shops, and electronics stores.

The museum mainly collects works under the themes of “Local Art,” “École de Paris,” “Mexican Renaissance,” and “Contemporary Art.” Its displays are changed two or three times a year, with works selected from its collection of about 6,800 pieces according to each season’s theme.

A science museum in central Nagoya made up of three buildings: the Life Science Building, the Physical Science Building, and the Astronomy Building.
