This park is known as the location of Takiyama Castle, a fort owned by the Hojo clan, who were prominent during the Warring States Period (1467-1568).
Now designated as a national historical monument, this park is equipped with a strolling path around the castle ruins. While walking around, sense the history contained in these ruins.
Within the park, about 2,000 cherry trees have been planted, mainly of the Somei-yoshino and Yama-zakura varieties. With these trees blossoming on the slope covering an imperial burial mound, it is famous as one of the leading cherry-blossom viewing spots in the city.
Another attractive feature of the park are the various open spaces nestled among the trees, providing a place for relaxation and leisure.
