Sunshine City
A complex facility that houses “Sunshine 60,” a symbol of the Ikebukuro area that forms its own city.
Sunshine City has been popular for many years as a major spot in Ikebukuro Station’s east exit area. The facility consists of 5 distinct areas: SKY CIRCUS Sunshine 60 Observatory, Prince Hotel, World Import Mart, Bunka Kaikan, and Specialty Store Alpa. Besides commercial facilities and hotels, the area features a cluster of popular entertainment facilities such as aquariums, planetariums, and NAMJATOWN.
There are many restaurants and shops in Specialty Store Alpa, which occupies the first to third basement floors. Meanwhile, there are about 150 stores in the event space known as the Sunshine City Fountain Square. While known as a go-to for youth fashion and trendy items, the area also features the Pokémon Center MEGA TOKYO & Pikachu Sweets on the second floor, which makes it a popular choice among families. Since limousines and express buses arrive and depart from the bus terminal and Prince Hotel on the 1st floor of the Bunka Kaikan building, the facility could prove to be invaluable as a base for traveling around the city.
