Farmers Cafe Tsuchinoca was established in 2015 with the goal of contributing to the local agriculture. It is jointly operated with Oomugi-Kobo Roa that is known for their local barley dacquoise dessert, and also Hasegawa Farm that handles the production of Ashikaga MARU beef, two-rowed barley, asparagus, and other products, and the restaurant is on the site of Oomugi-Kobo Roa.
Their concept is, "Gratefully use the ingredients received and raised from the blessings of the ground." Ashikaga that is blessed with fertile soil and clear streams is a treasure trove for high quality agriculture and livestock, and they aim to effectively use those products in connection with the development of the region. The name "Tsuchinoca" contains within it meanings for "fruit of the soil," "the scent of the ground," and "flowers of the earth."
Since this is a cafe restaurant that produces locally for local consumption, the main focus of the food they offer is naturally with ingredients that have been raised under the personal care of local producers. For example, Ashikaga MARU cattle is a brand from Ashikaga that grows up quickly from being fed feed made with MARU(the strained grape lees produced when making wine) supplied by the nearby Coco Farm & Winery. Their meat is both tender and has a good balance of both red meat and fat, along with being full of umami flavor. This restaurant's top menu item is roast beef made from that MARU beef. In addition, the strong flavor and freshness unique to products directly delivered from the farm such as vibrant and juice asparagus or onions full of natural nutrients leaves quite an impression. Their bread, pasta, and hamburger buns use locally produced barley, resulting in every dish on their menu having a condensed amount of the flavor Ashikaga takes pride in.
At the jointly operated shop, you can enjoy some shopping with their line up of vegetables harvested every morning and local specialties that you can only get here. This is a cozy cafe that has an outpouring of love for the local area. Your body is sure to be pleased right down to its core if you try their delicious food made with local ingredients.
