The "Ashikaga Fireworks Display " is annually held on August at the Watarase riverside area. The long-established event started in 1903 and has continued to be held for more than 110 years. There will be about 25,000 fireworks to be launched. It boasts the largest display in Kanto area, and is called the "Summer Festival of 500,000", since it attracts more than 500,000 visitors every year.

Summer to early autumn is packed with fireworks displays in various places, but this event is especially known for its highly organized and grand production, and there are a lot of people who revisit from outside the prefecture. Seeing the customary Shakudama fireworks and the great balls of fireworks created by famous pyrotechnicians fill the deep blue night sky is a magnificent sight. The elaborate programs with breathtaking successive launches and quick launches, and the combination of the large and small type of fireworks receive non-ending cheers of joy from the spectators. The climax of the it all is the finale with a competition between the 800-meter "Big Niagara" and the "Wide Star Mine". It is a dynamic and magical highlight.

The riverside area is mostly free of charge since it is an open area, but it can get crowded, so it is recommended to go there early to save a spot. If you want to enjoy it from the best angle, then go for the paid seats.
The paid seats include the chair seats (folding chairs 3,000 yen / couple seats 7,000 yen), excellent viewing seats (1 section 8000 yen, 8-10 person capacity / 0.5 section 5000 yen, 4~5 person capacity), box seats (1 area 17,000 yen, approx. 5 person capacity). They are close to where the fireworks will be launched, and the view is spectacular. It is also the best for taking photos with your phone.

A magnificent fireworks display that beats the summer heat. Come and experience the excitement created by the majestic lights, sound and colors.
