Nearby Shibamata Taishakuten, you’ll find Kameya Hompo, a famous shop selling Dango, or flavored rice dumplings.
It was a model for the Dango shop of Tora-san, the main character in the movie, “The Otoko wa tsurai yo (It’s Tough Being a Man)”.
Although the current shop was rebuilt in 1971, it retains the old feel of a shop ready to serve patrons dropping by after worshipping at Shibamata Taishakuten.
Customers are served on the 1st floor, but the 2nd floor is also opened when it gets crowded or when a banquet is held.
This shop offers the old-fashioned taste of excellent products made with natural ingredients. The aroma and body of the fresh mugwort used in their famous Kusa-dango will expand in your mouth!
Their azuki is made with specially selected red beans from the Tokachi region of Hokkaido.
Savor a variety of flavors in Kushi-dango, a popular 5-stick set of dumplings.
Try the dried seaweed-flavored Nori-dango and deep-fried Age-dango, offered only on weekends. Also, don’t miss out on seasonal flavors such as Sakura (cherry-blosom), Kuri (chestnut), Lemon and Yuzu (citron)!
