Works are collected as the theme of “Art by local artists”, “École de Paris”, “Mexican Renaissance”, and “Contemporary artist”. The display is changed three times a year and works are selected with a seasonal theme among about 6800 collections.
“Fafnir-Dragon II” by Alexander Calder welcomes you at the entrance. The other contemporary sculptures by Isamu Noguchi , Antony Gormley, and more are placed.
The works of Takanori Ogisu , a painter from Aichi who spent his life in and drew Paris are collected. Following his works, many works around 1910 to 1930 by foreign artists called “École de Paris” are collected. One of the masterpieces is “Girl with Pigtails by Amedeo Modigliani . It is characteristic of the museum that many collections of “Mexican Renaissance” in the early 20 century at the time of the Mexican Revolution.
Temporary exhibitions are held occasionally and permanent exhibitions are needless to say recommended. The themes are various including Impressionism, Contemporary arts, and scriptures. Globally famous work has come here, Nagoya, many times from a museum representing the country.
