Kominka Cottage Kanon

This is a renovated kominka guesthouse (old Japanese residence structure) built in Yamato-nume style over 120 years ago. Yamato-mune is a distinct architectural minka style (residence building) constructed in the particular area in old days; in Nara Prefecture, the Kawachi region of Osaka Prefecture, and the Iga region of Mie Prefecture. The style is characterized by arranging two roofs with different slopes with a steep thatched roof and a gently pitched tiled roof.

This guesthouse consists of the two houses, Kanon-A and Kanon-B. Guests can rent the entire house.

The four rooms in Kanon-B can be opened by removing the partitions to create a large extended space. The lounge room has a kotatsu to relax with a homey feeling.
Both buildings come with large supporting beams and wooden floors extended to the outside (engawa), along with an alcove decoration (tokonoma), providing a quaint and peaceful atmosphere. The garden is available for BBQs, bonfires, fireworks, and a hammock.

Guests can bring their own food and cook dinner in the kitchen. Of course, BBQs in the garden is very welcomed. Bread, eggs, and juices are stocked for a free breakfast service. And pets can stay together too. Please check the rules for family and pets in advance.

Stone terrace walls and a few historical sites in the neighborhood make for wonderful strolling.
