Since 2010, Mitoyo City in Kagawa prefecture started the stay-type fostering young artists project, "Awashima Artist Village", set in Awashima. Since 2013, as one of the venues for the Setouchi International Art Triennale, it has been exhibiting the works of various artists.

Currently, the work for the 2019 Setouchi International Art Triennale, "Cave Mural as a narrating the story and story of whale being reborn as oxygen." created by Japanese artist Maki Ohkojima and Mayur Vayeda, an Indian artist and heir to the mural "Warli Paintings" by the Warli tribe, in collaboration with the local residents in Awashima, is regularly exhibited at the former Awashima Junior High School, which was closed in 2014.

Because the people of the island provide the guide, you are able to hear about the story of the production process, and it is also another appeal to learn more about the work.
