Nasu Highland, Minamigaoka Dairy
It is famous for its soft-serve ice cream made from rare cow’s milk! Enjoy the fresh farm gourmet foods.
The dairy industry has been thriving in Tochigi Prefecture with its lush greenery and clean air. This farm is located in the Nasu Highland, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tochigi Prefecture. It is open all year and admission is free.
On the farm, cows, sheep, goats, horses, donkeys, rabbits, and other farm animals live in a more natural setting. Visitors can interact with the animals by feeding them and riding on horseback. In addition, a fishing pond for rainbow trout, archery, miniature golf, and other activities are available.
Their premium soft-serve ice cream, made from the milk of Guernsey cows, a rare breed with only 200 cows in Japan, is a must-try. The milk won the gold award at the National Local Milk Grand Prix and has been certified as a “Nasu Brand” as a Nasu Highland specialty. It has a rich, sweet, and creamy yet refreshing aftertaste. In addition to sweets, there are some restaurants that offer farm delicious dishes, such as juicy homemade Salisbury steak made with fresh beef from the farm, and at a Mongolian restaurant, healthy lamb meat.
The shop sells ice cream, yogurt, milk jam, and other products made from their proud Guernsey milk. There is also an online store for your convenience.
