Crochet Kyo-Ame Main Store
Bright and colorful Kyo-ame candies, made by crossing traditional Kyoto candy-making magic with European color extraction techniques.
This new-age Kyoto candy brand is brought to you by Imanishi Seika, a veteran sweets shop in Kyoto for over 140 years. Kyo-ame candies, usually made in two-tone finish, have been re-stylized by this brand’s “color theme” in a number of cute, color finishes that look as beautiful as glass. The gorgeous colors are modeled after European coloring techniques, all while preserving the long-loved candy magic of seasoned craftsmen in these final products.
From the 12 colors of Heian ceremonial dress to modern color combinations of today, there are over 100 different final varieties that symbolize a unique color meaning of their own. The flavors of each candy are also different, and you won’t want to miss the specially named candies that come with a backstory, like Shion or Antoinette.
Here you’ll find the standard size, as well as a “hina” mini size that’s perfect for anyone who wants to try a number of different flavors. Don’t forget to check the seasonal and Kyoto Main Store exclusive flavors. The candies come in cute designs that you can even wrap in a traditional mizuhiki bow, making for a perfect little gift.
