Founded in 1910 as Osaka’s first Western-style restaurant, Jiyuken Namba Honten operates in the bustling Namba Center Street in the heart of the Minami area.

The most popular dish, the "Signature Curry," was a favorite of the renowned Japanese literary giant Sakunosuke Oda. Unlike typical curry where rice is topped with sauce, this mixed curry combines rice, curry roux, and ingredients in a pan before serving. The roux, based on beef tendon broth and tomato puree with a hint of Japanese dashi, is spicy and flavorful, maintaining its deep taste through four generations. The default topping is a raw egg, which, when mixed in, adds a mild touch. You can also enhance the flavor with the Worcestershire sauce provided on the table.

In addition to curry, the menu features a variety of classic Western dishes, including fried shrimp, hamburg steaks, fried chicken, and cream croquettes.
