Okinawa Daiichi Hotel
Okinawa’s food is generously served in the medicinal cuisine at this popular hotel.
Opened in 1955, the Okinawa Daiichi Hotel with a long history moved to Ichigin dori Street near the Kokusai Dori Street in 2011. Surrounded by Ryukyu-style stone walls, the hotel has 5 rooms of twin, single and Japanese with antique furniture. Although small in scale, the thoughtful services have been attracting repeat guests.
During the stay, what is most memorable is the medicinal cuisine breakfast spreading all over the table. Okinawa’s island vegetables in season as the main feature. Almost 50 ingredients are used all together in nearly 20 kinds of dishes and drinks every day. The female owner, who knows Okinawa’s traditional food culture, prepares the menu with minimum seasonings. It is very satisfying, yet remains healthy below 600kcal.
The dining area, decorated with potteries and calligraphy by Okinawan artists, is relaxing and well-liked by guests. Three groups of guests are served each hour. If you make a reservation at least one day in advance, you can dine without staying overnight. The genuine Okinawa imperial dinner course is provided at night.
