Close to the Ikegami Honmonji Temple in Ota District, Ikegami Plum Garden is known for the District flower, plums. The garden spreads on a hill with over 30 species of plum trees. Red and white fragrant blossoms will let you know when spring arrives.

Early-blooming species begin blooming in late January, and the peak for the whole garden is between late February and early March. Different varieties cover the whole slopes to make a magnificent view. The garden also has two tea rooms, a Japanese room facing a pond, and Suikinkutsu (hand-washing basin). Meander the area, appreciating the Japanese atmosphere. The garden is lit up in the limited season for fantastical effects.

Cherry blossom in April, hydrangea in June, and other seasonal beauties are available besides the plum. Nearly 800 azaleas dot the garden in red, white and pink in this secret tourist spot, which lasts from mid April through mid May, quite a long season. Come see the chrysanthemum exhibition between late October and mid November, too.
