IKEA Tachikawa
A popular home furnishing company from Sweden.
Opened in April 2014 in the nature-rich Tachikawa area as the first store in Tokyo of the popular home furnishing company "IKEA" from Scandinavian Sweden. Despite its location in Tokyo, the store is easily accessible by train, being about a 7-minute walk from Takamatsu Station on the Tama Toshi Monorail and a 10-minute walk from the North Exit of JR Tachikawa Station. The sales floor area is the largest in Tokyo.
In the room set, a room composed of IKEA products is reproduced in the store to express the actual atmosphere. Another feature of the store is the development of ideas for sustainable living and storage solutions for small urban living environments such as one-room and one bedroom apartments. In addition to interior goods, the store offers a food market that proposes Swedish food culture and a wide selection of about 100 kinds of food products.
There is also a spacious IKEA restaurant and café where you can enjoy typical Swedish dishes such as meatballs and cinnamon rolls, both served with apple berry jam. A kids' playroom called Småland, where children can be temporarily taken care of, is popular with families.
