Fussa Base Side Street

Located along Route 16 in Fussa City, Tokyo, and adjacent to Yokota Air Base, Fussa Base Side Street is a shopping district infused with American culture. The area is lined with shops featuring vintage antiques, eclectic goods, secondhand clothing, cafés, ice cream parlors, and souvenir stores, alongside art galleries and live music venues, creating a unique, multicultural atmosphere. Even just window shopping here is an exciting experience.

One of the standout attractions is the Fussa American House (free entry), a community space inside a 1958-built U.S. military house. The interior recreates the American lifestyle of that era, offering a nostalgic glimpse into the past. The adjoining gallery also introduces the rich history of Fussa.

Local specialty food can also be found here, most notably the "Fussa Dog", a hot dog made with sausages from Fussa’s local ham factories, paired with unique buns and signature sauces. Each shop serves its own variation, making it fun to compare flavors.

Throughout the year, the district hosts events such as flea markets, international fairs, and the "Friendship Festival" inside Yokota Air Base, offering visitors a true taste of authentic American culture in Japan.
