Karuizawa Umbrella-Sky

This annual event is held every year during the rainy season in the Karuizawa Hoshino area. The streets of HARUNIRE Terrace, where 16 stores and restaurants are located, are decorated with over 100 colorful umbrellas in red, blue, green, and other vivid colors.　It is a wonderful event that lifts the spirits of even the most dreary rainy day. It can be viewed from 8:00 to 22:00, and admission is free.

Depending on the weather, you can feel different atmospheres, and both views are beautiful. On sunny days, sunlight penetrates the translucent umbrellas and is reflected in the wooden deck at their feet. On rainy days, the wet wooden deck becomes like a mirror, reflecting the umbrellas and trees.　

In addition, the area is lit up at dusk from 6:00pm to 10:00pm, creating a fantastic sight. It is recommended to enjoy the scenery while strolling around or while dining on the terrace of the restaurant.
